Tribute & Message From The Family

Jennifer Elizabeth Tiano, 47, of Philadelphia, PA, passed away on Friday, November 2nd, 2018. Jenny spent 32 years working in the nursing home food service industry. She also spent more than 15 years working in the childcare field. She was a hard worker, known for her ability to quickly bond with the residents and children under her care.

Jenny enjoyed spending time with friends and supporting Philadelphia sport teams, except football of course, where her 49ers always came first. More than anything, she enjoyed spending time with her family, by whom she will be missed dearly.

She is survived by her mother, Geraldine Law, and father, James Tiano (Eileen). She was loved dearly by her sisters Gerry Pietrzak (Kenny), Josie Kasinetz (Dave), Helen Cosenza(Don), Norah Haniman (Erik), Denise Costello (Tim), and Barbara Tiano; and brothers, Billy Law and Jon Broadley. She was a truly devoted Aunt to her nieces and nephews, and loved each of them profoundly.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jenny's Life Celebration and gathering on Saturday November 10, 2018 from 11:30am to 1:00pm at John F. Givnish, 10975 Academy Rd. Phila., PA 19154. Memorial Service will follow at 1:00pm at the funeral home.

Condolence & Memory Journal

So sorry to hear about Jen, actually shocked! She worked w/my husband john at Dear Meadows when it was Baptist Home. Our oldest daughter went to Little Learners as a baby to preschool where I got to see Jen all the time & my mom eventually took a job there & worked alongside Jen too. She was always smiling & laughing, the best way to remember her. May she rest in peace

Hi Jenny, Remember me Lisa Merkel from Gerry's childhood? I remember you as a little girl many years ago when I came over to your house to play with your sisters Gerry and Josie. I have not seen you in such a long long time but I do remember you were such a sweet child. It brought tears to my eyes when Gerry told me you passed away. I was hoping to one day see you again one day. May God Bless you and R.I.P. You are greatly missed.

Jen, I still can't believe you are gone. We worked together for 6 years. You introduced me to your sister and the rest is history. You have been a constant in our lives and now we are trying to understand life without you. I feel so sad that Emily and Jared won't have their Aunt Jen-Jen as they grow up. Vacations, birthdays, and holidays won't be the same without you. Rest in Peace Jenny. You are loved, you are missed.

Rest Peacefully Jenn After meeting Jenn at my son's daycare we kept in touch on and off over the last 18 years. When we saw each other we would pick up right where we left off. Jenn was a great girl. I'm truly sorry for your loss.

It's never easy to go on in life knowing that I lost someone as kind, generous, loving, and as special as you were to me. I have tried to gasp the fact that I can't say that directly to you, but hopefully you will hear me and find it in your heart to forgive me for not being in your life the way I should have been. As tears stream down my face, I think about all of the great memories and good times we shared. We struggled together, we prospered together. I was there for you and you in turn were there for me. You helped me raise my son, which wasn't always the easiest thing, yet you never complained and cared for him with unconditional and genuine love. You were always good with kids though. I remember you getting your drivers license, and although it took you forever, you got it. I can go for days telling all the stories and great times we shared, the ups and downs, the rights and the wrongs. You have left an irreversible place in my heart. That smile lit up more than a room, those big earrings were your signature, and who could ever bad-mouth the 49ers and you let them get away with it! I can't be selfish, I know there were other people in your life that commanded your time, but I wish the hands of time broke because I would have had a chance to share this memory with you. You will never ever be forgotten. GO NINERS!!!

I was a fellow patient with Jennifer and can easily say her last memories were very happy ones! We played the board game Sorry and we had some great and sincere laughs, especially given our mutual situation.

She made everyone feel comfortable in their own skin. Though we only knew each other a couple days, the bond was already there, for sure. I'd also like to vouch for Emma who was her roommate who had bonded very easily to Jennifer (how could you not?)

Jennifer had active plans on meeting with us outside of the hospital. I plan to attend the funeral, but if for some unforeseen reason I cannot, I do want to let the family know that she really was very happy throughout her stay even up until her last moment with us.

She would salute me in a very funny and charismatic way when she learned what my work experience was. We would then do that to each other in the morning and whenever we would just want to be funny.

I want to return a memorial salute to your daughter, sister, friend and loved one as she transitions to a higher place. My condolences to everyone who grew to love such an outstanding, wonderful woman.

~ Most sincerely,
