Tribute & Message From The Family


Nicholas L. Vinci, Sr. ("Nick") passed away on Saturday, October 3rd, at the age of 89. Nick was born in Philadelphia to the late Leo and Philomena (Tammaro) Vinci; loving husband of the late Bridget Vinci (Martin); cherished father of Marie Dougherty (James), Patricia Mazzola (Stephen); cherished father-in-law of Maureen Vinci, the late Nicholas L. Vinci, Jr., Terrance Vinci and Gregory Vinci; and beloved brother of the late Betty Vinci. Being a grandfather gave him great pride and joy. He leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren to cherish his memory.

Nick proudly served our country in the United States Navy for 5 years, where he traveled the world. After leaving the Navy, he became an United States Marshal, serving his country for over 20 years until he retired as Chief Deputy Marshal of the Southeastern District of Pennsylvania in 1981. He didn't retire though, and went on to work as a process server at Pepper Hamilton LLP for 10 years. He always worked tirelessly for his family, with part-time jobs at the Philadelphia Phillies, Spectracorp and the Keswick Theater.

Nick was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 12384, the FOP, Sons of Italy. He was very generous and contributed to regularly to many organizations.
Family and friends are invited to Nick's Life Celebration on Wednesday, October 7th 2020 from 9:00am to 10:00am at St. Martha Church, 11301 Academy Rd., Philadelphia, PA 19154 with a mass to follow at 10:00am. Interment to follow at Forest Hills Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nick's memory to the charity of the donor's choice. Life Celebration services entrusted to John F. Givnish Funeral Home 215-281-0100
