Tribute & Message From The Family

Feeney
Michael John, of Philadelphia, passed away on October 13th at the age of 78. He was the beloved husband of Mary "Myra" (nee Connell); devoted father of Michael (Silvia), Daniel (Theresa), Shawn (Jennifer), Martin (Christine), and Mary; loving grandfather of Ashlynne (Mike), Brianna (Derek), Emmaleigh, Aleks, Katie, Farrell, Jessica, Kayla, Colin, Elizabeth, Ariana, Tommy, and Isabella; loving great grandfather of Michael, Danny, Anna, and William; and cherished brother of the late Catherine "Honey", Monica "Connie", Patrick "Buddy", and Peter.

Michael was a steadfast member of AA, who devoted much time and energy to help those who struggled with addiction. He was just as devoted to and passionate about his family, there for them any time, and always with generosity and love. Michael proudly served his country as a Marine in the United States Marine Corps. He enjoyed an intense game of pinochle, finishing his crosswords in pen only and baking his famous soda breads for his many avid food fans. You could also find - or better yet hear him - in front of the TV for the Eagles games – and during all these activities he had his wife right by his side. He had a deep love and newfound patience for his grandchildren, and leaves behind a legacy of strength, humility and love of service. One of the great ones truly earned his spot – stay cozy, dad.

Family and friends are invited to Michael's Life Celebration on Monday, October 19th, from 6 – 9 PM, at the John F. Givnish Funeral Home, 10975 Academy Rd, Philadelphia, PA 19154, and again on Tuesday, October 20th, from 9:15 – 10 AM, at Christ the King Church, 3252 Chesterfield Rd, Philadelphia, PA 19114. Mass will begin at 10 A. Interment services will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Michael's name to Christ the King Church.

Condolence & Memory Journal

So sorry...... Mike was such a big impact on the young me, I've carried those values with me throughout my life. I wish I could have been there to see him off. Such a wonderful person, who stuck to his convictions always. Always funny. Loved to razz him about the Eagles, lol. Mike had a great impact on me, I've always considered him n Myra as parents, and Michael, Shawn, Mary n Marty as my family as well. I was stationed with Dan, one of my best friends. Mike used to crack on Dan n myself, always had a joke to tell, or something funny to point out..... I was in the service, and in decent shape. Mike orchestrated a full contact football game at a park near his house, IN THE SNOW. He was the perma-QB for both sides, it was great fun, but MAN, I could Not walk for a week after that!
Mike was fun, also very compassionate, as he was in AA for most of his life, and was a mentor for many many people. I just have a enormous amount of respect and love for Mike. I'm just floored that he's gone, but he lives a good life, his way, and did it well. And I'm thankful for the time I got to spend with him.
Time to take it easy, Mike, you've earned your wings. I'm sure the many of family and friends you've impacted will miss you, but be happy to know you're in Heaven with the Lord of God. Godspeed Mike, and my condolences to the Feeney family. MY family.
All our love...... Andy n Deanna Laguna
