Tribute & Message From The Family

William P. "Bill" Gilbert, passed away on January 11th 2021 at the age of 73. Bill was the loving husband of Theresa Ann (nee Foell) for 50 years, and the caring father to Pamela J. Ginsburg (Jeffrey), Neil P. Gilbert (Bernadette), and grandfather to Morgan and Jessica. Bill will also be greatly missed by his brother David C. Gilbert (Diane) and his niece, nephew, and great niece.

Bill was born in the Mount Airy section of Philadelphia to Charles and Beatrice. He attended Cardinal Dougherty High School and was the class of 1965. Bill loved his time at Dougherty and was a member of the Dougherty Marching Band where he played trombone. After high school, Bill attended La Salle University where he graduated in 1969 with a Bachelors Degree of English.

In 1970 Bill joined the United States Army. He would go on to serve honorably during the Vietnam War was and discharged in 1971 as a 1st Lieutenant.

After returning home, Bill rekindled his love of music. He would play with the Cardinal Dougherty Alumni band, the Olney and Abington Symphony, and various brass quartets throughout the years. Bill worked for the Philadelphia Medical Examiner for 25 years as their Chief Investigator.

In 1971, Bill and Theresa bought their home in Philadelphia where they would raise their family. Bill will always be remembered for his mechanical and technological mind. He built his own computers and TV over the years.

The family of Mr. William Gilbert asks those attending the services to adhere to all social distancing, and mask guidelines set forth by our health authorities.
Relatives and friends are invited to Bill's Life Celebration visitation on Saturday January 16th from 9-10AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church (7631 Waters Rd, Cheltenham, PA 19012 ), with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10AM; interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
