Tribute & Message From The Family

Thomas Lawrence Davis was born August 13, 1948 in Philadelphia, PA. He was the fifth of eight children;
son of the late Andrew Davis & Edna Ballard Davis. Tom spent the bulk of his life in Philly. He was
educated in the Philadelphia public school system. He was accepted to Central High School in 1963 at a
time when few minorities were allowed. Tom was a 3-letter athlete playing high school football,
basketball and track. He enjoyed singing with a number of different local gospel groups including:
• The Sacred Hearts
• The Heavenly Tears
• Gospel's Right Ingredient
• Thomas also was Director of the St. John's Mass Chior
In 1962 Tom met Alice Adams and their immediate infatuation led to marriage in 1966. To this union
were born two beautiful daughters, Angela & Aubreya. After 10 years the trials of life caused their
marriage to collapse. However, they remained lifelong friends as they became grandparents and even
great -grands.
In 1979 Thomas met his long-time partner, Annie N. Davis who he affectionately called "Lovey". They
were married in 2017. Both Alice and Annie preceded Thomas in death. In 2013 Thomas was diagnosed
with throat cancer and underwent several procedures that left him with a restricted airway, a feeding
tube and on oxygen for the rest of his natural life. Many thought his ailment would be his demise. But
with faith and determination Thomas lived with his condition until God called him home April 22, 2021.
Thomas was a member in good standing and Head Trustee of the St. John's Church of the Apostolic Faith
under the leadership of Pastor Georgianna Brown. Thomas knew Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He
leaves to cherish his memory his two daughters, Angela Faye Davis (Jovan Balknight) and Aubreya
Rochell Davis; eight grandchildren, Tanesia (Antonio), Aleaha, Alexandra (deceased), Terrell, Amir,
Avante, Aubree, Terrence;; fifteen great-grandchildren, Keshon, Taliyah, Tamea, Trent, Amya, Sheldon,
Darrell, Imani, Gabrielle, Navielle, Kendrick, Aquil, Rashawn, Tylynn, Jaceon ; three sisters, Doris, Faye &
Frances; one brother, Stanley (Althea); a beloved church family and a host of close friends and other
relatives.
