Tribute & Message From The Family

Maureen (Hinnegan) Cooley passed away peacefully on July 22, 2021, at the age of 83.

Maureen is survived by her three children: Monica Cooley, Brendan Cooley (Paulette), and Matt Cooley; four grandchildren: Nicholas, Emma, Aidan, and Abigail; two siblings: Gerald Hinnegan and Sheila Husman. Preceding Maureen in death are her husband Augustine "Gus" Cooley and her brother, Michael Hinnegan. She is also survived by her former son-in-law Leo Lesniewski and former daughter-in-law Dianne Miller.

Maureen was a kind and gentle soul who had a strong and consistent desire to help others – both friends and strangers alike. Nearly everyone she touched is eager to share a fond memory of her warm approach to life. She will be fondly remembered for her passionate support of political campaigns and causes; her masterful bread-baking skills; and the hand-crafted gifts (knit socks, crocheted blankets, and sewn curtains, etc.) that she shared with so many.

Maureen was born in Northeast Philadelphia and moved to West Palm Beach, Florida at age 14 – upon the death of her father. She settled in Norristown, PA in 1962, after marrying Gus. Most recently she lived in Lafayette Hill, PA.

Relatives and friends are invited to share in Maureen's Life Celebration Memorial Service on Saturday August 7, at Boyd Horrox-Givnish Funeral Home of East Norriton, 200 West Germantown Pike, 610-277-7000. Calling hours will be from 10 AM to 10:50 AM followed by a memorial service at 11 AM. All are welcome to attend and encouraged to share a short story or two of their time with Maureen. Details for a light lunch will be announced at the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please donate to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (www.nami.org).

So sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of knowing your mom when I worked for Rep. Gerber. What a charming woman she was.

Though I did not get to meet Mrs. Cooley, her generosity and kindness are reflected in her children. My thoughts and prayers are with the Cooley family during this time of loss, reflection, and remembrance.

Fond memories of her light hearted giggle when something would strike her funny. Also received hand made items on various occasions. She will be missed. Rest in peace Mrs. Cooley

Will dearly miss my lovely, talented and generous sister-in-law. Her cross-stitched finger tip towels hold a prominent place in my guest room. Love to all her children, siblings and grandchildren. There are so many happy times to remember.
