Tribute & Message From The Family

Carole A. Turner (nee Smith), passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 19, 2021 in North Wildwood, NJ. Carole was born on October 13, 1936 to the late Martin and Margaret "Boots" Smith, in the Swampoodle section of Philadelphia. She was 84 years old.

Sissy, as she was affectionately known to many, was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan, and enjoyed playing solitaire, doing crossword puzzles, and reading novels. She worked over 40 years in the food services industry and was a long-time employee of both Frankie Masters Tavern and Gallo's Seafood in Northeast Philadelphia, and ended her career at Southampton Estates. In her retirement years, she enjoyed sitting on her front porch in North Wildwood with a cold Miller Lite, while handing out lollipops to the little kids returning from the beach and dog treats to her neighbor's furry friends.

Carole is survived by her sisters Margaret Reid, Cecilia Mallon, Janice Mangini and Sharon Lorenzo, and brothers-in-law John Hunter, Robert Mangini, and Michael Lorenzo; her children Susan Lopez (Roy), Thomas (Vicki), Kimbra Roesner (Mark LeMew), Frances Bowes (John), and Amy (Kevin Pappernak); and many adored grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her ex-husband Tom Turner; partners Gerald DiMauro, and William Yoast; siblings Martin Smith, Claire Ondrejka, Kathleen Hunter, and William Smith; brothers-in-law Edward Reid, George Ondrejka and Richard Mallon; son-in-law Francis Roesner; and by her beloved daughter Carole Bennis.

Relatives and friends are invited to Carole's Life Celebration on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, 9:00am-11:00am at the John F. Givnish Funeral Home, 10975 Academy Rd., Philadelphia, PA 19154, immediately followed by her entombment service at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3301 W Cheltenham Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19150.
