Tribute & Message From The Family

David Alan Cote of Newtown, Morrisville, Penns Park, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania passed on Wednesday, September 15th, 2021 at the age of 78 after battling with Alzheimer's and Dementia. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years Donna Cote, his two sons Brian (47) and Daniel (44), and his adoring grandchildren Rayhan (16), Cassandra (11), and Logan (4).

David was born in Philadelphia on November 1st, 1943 to Mary Neil and Victor Cote. He was the younger brother to Suzanne. He graduated from Morrisville High School and was an avid baton twirler. He performed with the Hegeman String Band in the Mummer's New Year's Day Parade for 2 years; winning 1st place during his first year leading the String Band up Broad Street.

David was an entrepreneur at heart. Starting as a baton twirling teacher, David also traveled the nation judging national twirling contests and competitions. His teaching was part of the inspiration behind the creation of Cote Majorette Supply Inc. started by Victor and Mary Neil out of their home in Morrisville. David would eventually take a leading role in the business.

Through his teaching and business, David formed countless relationships across the twirling and performing arts world that survive to this day. The business grew to include additional performing arts such as dancing and competitive figure skating. Cote Majorette Supply Inc. became an international business serving the needs of thousands in twirling, skating, dancing, and other majorette activities.

As business needs changed, Cote Inc. moved into selling flags, flag poles, and other flag accessories. The Cote family business then became inextricably known as "The Flag Store" to the people who live in the Delaware Valley. Bringing patriotism to the area was important to David. He donated flags and flagpoles to the Garden of Reflection and the Washington Crossing National Cemetery.

David loved special events with his family. As a family, they would vacation in Cape Cod. In Cape Cod he taught his boys how to swim in the ocean, deep sea fishing, and finding ways to keep them busy on rainy days. Christmas was his favorite holiday. He enjoyed family time and decorating the house from the inside-out. He was very generous with his gift giving to his children and especially his grandchildren.

As his family grew to include grandchildren, David planned vacations to Disney World and Cape Cod. He wanted to share all of his favorite places with the next generation of Cote children.
David enjoyed traveling abroad with his wife. They visited many countries, including Egypt, France, England and Hong Kong. He especially enjoyed their Mediterranean Cruise.

He will be sorely missed by his family. We are thankful that he is no longer suffering and is resting in peace.

Friends and family are invited to David's Life Celebration on Saturday, September 25th, 2021 from 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM followed by his Funeral Service at 10:30 AM. Services will take place at Swartz-Givnish Life Celebration Home, 323 Washington Avenue, Newtown, PA 18940. Interment will follow at Newtown Cemetery.
