Tribute & Message From The Family

Dorothy J. O' Brien "Joan" (nee Batchelor) of Pottstown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday September 21, 2021. She was 87 years old. Born October 18, 1933 in Glenolden, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Dorothy (nee Hampton) Batchelor, and the beloved wife of the late Edward O'Brien.

Joan was raised in Glenolden and attended Ridley Park High School. Shortly after graduation she married Edward O'Brien in 1953 to whom she was happily married for 54 years. Joan also was employed in retail for nearly 30 years before retiring from FW Woolworths. In retirement she enjoyed trips to the shore with her husband and family, shopping with her daughters and granddaughters, and dinners out with her husband and family. She was an avid watcher of QVC and enjoyed the time she spent at both the gym and hairdresser.

Joan is survived by her three sons; Edward (Sharon), John (Heidi), and Patrick (Lisa), three daughters; Veronica Brennan (Gerald), Theresa O'Brien, and Joanne Flanagan (Richard), 19 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.

Relatives and friends are invited to share in Joan's Life Celebration on Friday October 8, from 10 AM to 10:50 AM at St. Titus Church 3006 Keenwood Rd. East Norriton. Her Funeral Mass will begin at 11 AM at the church. Interment will be at Whitemarsh Memorial Park. Family services are by Boyd-Horrox-Givnish of East Norriton, 610-277-7000. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan's name can be made to the U.S. Marine Corps "Toys for Tots" Program.
