Tribute & Message From The Family

Catherine Gordon (nee Asbury), of Phoenixville, passed away peacefully on Monday October 4, 2021 at her daughter's home with family by her side. She was 82 years old. Born October 19, 1938 in Oakeola, PA, she was the daughter of the late William and Ruby Asbury, and beloved wife of Basil P. Gordon, Jr., with whom she shared 53 years of marriage.

Catherine resided in Delaware County most of her life before moving to Chester County in 1978. She graduated from Darby Township School and attended Ebenezer AME Church in Glenolden. Catherine, also known as Neet and Cass, adored her family and extended family. She loved to cook, entertain, and never refused an opportunity to play poker. She loved to hug and kiss her children and grandchildren who lovingly called her "Booch." Cass was known to take on the challenge of a bowling match. She played in a bowling league for many years earning plenty of trophies as she mastered the sport. Cass had a heart of solid gold and will be remembered for her kindness and generosity. Cass loved people, especially her family. Cass would go out of her way to do anything for her family and she never blinked an eye to travel down route 252 to Delaware County to offer love, support, fellowship, and comradery to family members in need…or to play poker!

In addition to her beloved husband Basil, Catherine leaves to rejoice in her memory her five sons George Gadsden of Phoenixville, Gary Gadsden of Phoenixville, Darryl Gordon (Dominique) of Manheim, Basil Gordon III (Christine) of Bethlehem, Gregory Gordon (Gladys) of Washington D.C., and her daughter Sharon Gordon of East Norriton. Cass is also survived by three of her eleven siblings, Harry (Bud) of Darby, Kenneth of Glenolden and James of Darby and twelve grandchildren - Austin, Ashley, Abel, D'Andre, DJ, DaNasia, Donovan, Alicia, Aaron, Emory, Kim, and Kai as well as great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other close loved ones.

Cass and Basil had been wonderful friends and neighbors for over 40 years. What fun times we shared in the neighborhood. Watching their amazing children grow into such fine adults was a role model for all of us. Cass, you will be sorely missed. We love you all and pray that your memories of such a beautiful woman will bring you peace. Love, Barbara and Joe DePalma, friends, North Palm Beach, FL, Oct. 8, 2021.

Cass had a way of always making you feel comfortable and wanted. Her laughter and warm heart was contagious. We couldn't have asked for a better neighbor and have many fond memories of neighborhood parties. Somehow I feel her delightful spirit is now helping our dear Lord. Can't imagine anyone with a warmer smile, heartier laugh and kinder heart to do so! What a terrific role model for wife, mother and grandmother you will always be.
