Condolence & Memory Journal

A Personal Message !!

YO George,
Throughout our 73 years of friendship, beginning in 1949 at St. John's Orphanage, Saint Joseph's Home for Boys, North Catholic High School, working for the same employer and the many years that followed, I've always considered you one of my closest friends. We never had a disagreeable moment, and over the years we had many and long phone discussions, reliving memories, discussing family matters and any issues that came to mind.

Some pleasant memories of the past. In our time, St. Joe's dances on Friday and Sunday nights were extremely popular with the surrounding parishes. As the main DJ, you selected the music and set the dance pattern, "3 slow and 1 fast". The dance floor was always crowed. Friday night dances were special because a group of Little Flower High School girls came in early, free admission, before the dance started to teach us Hut Guys how to dance. Included in that group of LFHS girls was Pat Keogh, who admired your dancing so much she married you, her sister Jean, Pat Flood, Joan Heenan, Clare, and others.

At social gathering, you always started the "sing-alongs" and carried the tunes. And you never failed to entertain everyone with your imitation of Frankie Lane and his hit song, "The Kid's Last Fight", complete with your pantomime fight gestures. Frankie Lane would have been proud.

In the early years Christmas gaterings were our focus and always enjoyable. In later years when driving distance became an issue, we continued our get-togethers at local restaurants, especially those like Randi's, whose staff never "hurried" us and let us reminiscence long after dinner.

George, Thanks for your friendship. You will be greatly missed by your family and close friends and fondly remembered by everyone who came into contact with you,

Your friends,
Lou & Rosie

Tim, Mike, and Michelle and the rest of your family...I am so sorry for your loss. Your parents were always so nice as we hung out as teenagers. My prayers are with all of you.
