Tribute & Message From The Family

"You're gorgeous" she would say warmly, with a put-on northern Jersey accent, as she gave you a big squeeze and giggled making anyone lucky enough to be in her embrace feel infinitely loved. This was Estelle May Murray-Williams, the beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, mentor, and dear friend who passed peacefully on February 1, 2022 at age 94 in her Newtown, Pennsylvania home. Estelle was preceded in death by her childhood sweetheart and husband of 44 years Johnny, her daughter-in-law Mary Carol, and grandchildren Angelina and Rudy John. Estelle leaves behind her three children, 12 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. She was born to Scottish immigrants George and Jean Murray in Newark, New Jersey on April 29, 1927. Soon after graduating from high school in Kearny, NJ, and a long-distance courtship that included hundreds of letters, she married John Williams upon his return home from World War II. Together, they had 3 children: John, Sandra, and Gregory. Estelle's accomplishments are too numerous to list here, but the one constant in all these achievements was her dedication and service to others and God. She invested all her energy and resources into her family, community, and Faith. Estelle's service ranged from PTA president to her time with Women's Aglow where she served as the Philadelphia Area Board President from 1996 to 2015. Estelle will be missed for the love she gave those around her, her breezy disposition, and her steadfast faith in God. Please join us celebrating her life and saying "toodaloo" on Monday morning February 28, 2022, from 10:00am to 11:30am at Swartz Givnish Funeral Home, 323 E. Washington Ave, Newtown, PA 18940. Followed by her Funeral Service at 11:30am. Interment to follow, 1pm at Washington Crossing National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a generous donation to Estelle's favorite charities: Salvation Army, American Bible Society, and the Gideons.

I was a member of the Warrington Women's Aglow. I have fond memories of Estelle as she led the Philadelphia Area Board for Aglow.
