Tribute & Message From The Family

Leona "Lee" Kessler Herman, 99, of Holland PA, a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, left this world February 25, 2022. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Lee Copper (Edward), Barbara Jeanne Perry (Peter) and Susan May Ryskamp (Philip); 7 grandchildren, Marion Perry, Keith Duzenski, Peter Perry, Jameson Perry, Daniel Duzenski, Rebecca Arroyo and Philip Ryskamp, and 11 great grandchildren. She was predeceased in death by her husband, Bob and her dear sister Elsie K. Henderson.
Lee was born to Albert and Elsie Kessler in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, November 14, 1922. Lee attended Simon Gratz High School. This is where she met her husband, Robert 'Bob' Herman of 57 years. After graduating from Simon Gratz High School, Lee trained to be a nurse through the Army Air Corp. Lee spent most of her career working in area hospitals, doctor's office and was an administrator at the Baptist Home on the Boulevard in Philadelphia. Lee finally "hung up her nursing shoes" in 1992. She was a loving mother of three daughters Nancy, Barby and Sue. She also took great pride over the years in becoming a grandmother and great-grandmother.
Lee enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting and made Afghans for all family members. She also made hats for newborns for a local hospital. Since high school, she loved to dance and once won a dance contest with Bob. Lee looked forward to the morning paper to complete the bridge challenge, as she was an avid bridge player. Belonging to several bridge groups, it was her favorite pastime.

Lee's Memorial Service will be held on March 20, 2022, at Holland Village, 280 Middle Holland Road, Holland, PA 18966. Visiting will begin at 2PM. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 3PM.
Contributions in Leona's memory may be made to the Disabled Vets of America in lieu of flowers.
Life Celebration services entrusted to Swartz Givnish of Newtown.

Condolence & Memory Journal

She always made me feel like I was a part of the family. I have a wonderful memory of sitting in her kitchen having a conversation. Your Mom was always interested in what was going on in our lives. She is with your dad and at peace. Sending love and prayers to the family. With loving memories, Nancy
