Tribute & Message From The Family

John, "Big Jack" Griffin Jr. (72), Philadelphia, PA Died on February 25th due to complications from lung cancer and COPD. Surrounded by his loving family. His battle with cancer and COPD in recent years showed his courage in facing all of life's challenges with a smile in spite of those difficulties. Jack is survived by; His loving wife Arlene, Daughter Terri, Son Jack III, A proud Grandfather to 7 Grandchildren, and 4 Great-Grandchildren, His Brother Steve, and Son-In-Law Tim and Daughter-in-law Julianne. His bright and Joking attitude will be missed by everyone he knew.

Jack was born to the Late Elizabeth and John M. Griffin, Sr. on June 17th 1949. 20 Years later he graduated from the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf where he was a star football player and wrestler while he studied to become a printer. He worked in the printing industry for 27 years.

Jack can be remembered for his love of his family, his passion for everything Irish, his enjoyment of the sport of football, his winning ways in fantasy football where he won many championships, as a youth basketball coach, and spectator to his children and grandchildren's sporting events. Jack was a large personality who brought smiles to everyone he met but his heart and generosity will be missed the most. Generosity where he opened his door to many neighborhood kids to be fed and spend time. It is these things that will be missed by his family, friends, and everyone he knew.
