Phyllis Jean Morgan

Phyllis Jean Morgan passed away on December 20, 2021, at the age of 89 at Holland Village, Holland, PA. She was born on December 28, 1931, in Roebling, New Jersey to Emil H. and Florence E. Spillman. She was married for 59 years to the late Ronald B. Morgan.

After attending 10th grade at William Penn Senior High School in York, PA, Phyllis graduated from Morrisville High School in 1949. She attended Moore Institute of Art, Science, and Industry, Moore College, where she graduated in 1953 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in the area of interior design.

Phyllis is survived by three daughters, Nancy J. Hoover (Bruce), Carolyn L Hayden (Robert), and Diane E. Reed (Jeffrey), and her son, Douglas C. Morgan (Mary). She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

After marrying, Phyllis and Ron moved to Holland, PA, for a few years, then moved to Newtown, PA, where they raised their children. Phyllis was active in the Newtown Presbyterian Church where she served in various capacities including as children's choir director for many years. She served the community in various ways, taught piano lessons, worked in interior design including redesign work for the First National Bank in Newtown, and painted all the original signs for historical buildings in Newtown.

After their children were grown, Phyllis and Ron relocated to Homosassa Springs, Florida, where Phyllis was active in church and in P.E.O. During this time, they also became closely involved with the community at Shehawken Lake, Shehawken, PA, where they spent their summers. There, Phyllis played the keyboard for the Sunday evening Vespers on the lake, and directed the summer choir at the Shehawken Methodist Church.

Phyllis loved music, sewing, needlework, puzzles, practical jokes, and painting. Phyllis and Ron also enjoyed traveling and meeting new friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Newtown Presbyterian Church, April 9, 2022 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Phyllis to Newtown Presbyterian Church, Newtown PA or Shehawken United Methodist Church, Shehawken PA.

Aunt Phyl was an important part of my childhood. Her warmth as well as her great smile and laugh are things I will always remember about her.
