Tribute & Message From The Family

Edward J. Egenlauf passed away on Friday, March, 11, 2022. He was 62 years old. Ed was born in Philadelphia to the late Dorothy (nee Detrich) and William Egenlauf. He is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Rene (nee Beltrante); loving children, Dan (Caitlyn), Amanda Bell (Matthew), and Briana (Nick); grandchildren, Nicholas Bremme, Luke Bremme, Renn Bremme, and Kinsley Egenlauf; siblings, William Egenlauf II, and Debra Zauzig (Richard). Ed is preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy, and William as well as his sister, Dorothy Waterman.

Ed was a Lieutenant in the Philadelphia Police Department where he proudly served and protected the city for over 40 years. Ed always put others before himself, and made many sacrifices to ensure he made it to all his children's sports games and practices over the years. To them, he was their rock, always reliable, their first phone call, and their biggest fan. Ed loved to vacation with his family in Wildwood, NJ before purchasing a home of their own in Ventnor, NJ. Spending time down the shore with friends, family, and his beloved dogs were some of Ed's best memories.

Relatives and friends are invited to Ed's Life Celebration on Thursday, March 17, 2022 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at John F. Givnish Life Celebration Home, 10975 Academy Road, Philadelphia, PA 19154. A memorial service will begin at 11:30 AM followed by Philadelphia Police Honors.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ed's name may be sent to The Police Athletic League of Philadelphia.
