Tribute & Message From The Family

Kathleen "Kathi" McCloskey (nee Malone), of Philadelphia, PA, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2022, at the age of 75 while surrounded by her family. Born in Philadelphia to the late Joseph and Mae Malone, Kathi dedicated her life to the things she loved the most – her family and dear friends. She lived for spending time with her children and grandchildren and a family gathering or vacation was always her favorite place to be. Her schedule revolved around every sports game, recital, or special event for her grandchildren, and she cherished every moment with them.

Kathi was a fiercely loyal friend to many and devoted her energy to ensure that she never lost touch with anyone. After years of teaching Catholic School for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, she dedicated her time to volunteering for various organizations which included serving as Vice President of the St. Hubert's Home and School Association. She enjoyed spending summers at her much-loved beach house, the "Edie-Mae", in Sea Isle City, NJ and frequently traveled with her husband, Dennis. Kathi will forever be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She is loved and she will be missed.

Kathi is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Dennis McCloskey; her children, Colleen (Mark) Zarnowsky, Carolyn (Dave) Magee, Dennis (Lisa) McCloskey Jr., and Christine McCloskey; and 9 adoring grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Joseph Malone, with whom she was very close and he always brought a smile to her face.

Family and friends are invited to Kathi's Life Celebration on Monday, May 16, 2022, from 6 PM – 8 PM, at the John F. Givnish Life Celebration Home, 10975 Academy Rd., Philadelphia, PA 19154, then again on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church, 2000 Shelmire Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19152, from 9 AM – 11 AM. Condolence & Memory Journal

We met when our daughters started kindergarten in 1978. A wonderful friendship started that day We bowled together, volunteered at St. Hubert. Joined Somerton Pool for summers etc. I admired Kathi so much as a mother and a friend but most of all as a beautiful soul. Rest in peace.

Kathi sat behind me for four years at St Hubert's High School. We stayed in touch thru the years and often spoke about our children on the fire department. I was sad to read this today.

I met Kathi through her daughter Christine. Chris was the Maid of Honor for my son & daughter-in law's wedding. Kathi & Dennis flew to Jamaica for the wedding which thrilled the bride & groom. I really got to know Kathi as we sat & talked & I felt like I had known her my whole life. She made me feel so special just because I was the Mother of the Groom, Derek. She went out of her way to compliment my dress & talked to my late husband about our son. She made conversation so easy and she & Dennis made "the perfect couple". I saw how truly devoted she was to her family & friends. I wish we could have met more often & had some more laughs Kath. You were a strong woman that many admired & now you can rest in peace. I may not make your funeral due to knee replacement but your loving husband & children will be in my constant thoughts & prayers & your memory will always bring a smile to my face. God Bless.

Kathi is my 1st cousin via marriage. I knew her to be very warm. She always made me feel welcome whenever I was in her presence. She was a person that I can only hope to aspire to be like.
His Bless You, Kathi. Give my Aunt Ede & Uncle Rite a hug for me!
