Ethel Jean (Moulder) Phillips, of Plymouth Meeting, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 27, 2021, at age 91. She was born on December 2, 1929, the second daughter to the late Mary E. (Hastings) and Herbert J. Moulder. Ethel, which means noble, lived on Johnson Road in Plymouth Meeting for 69 years in a house she built with her husband of 68 years, William C. "Bill" Phillips (2017.)
She was a retired secretary at Alan Wood, American Lacquer, and Lavino and worked as a Credit Union teller at Lavino and Budd Company which merged into American Heritage.
Ethel attended Plymouth Consolidated Stewart Junior High, and A. D. Eisenhower High School. She played the violin starting in fifth grade and was a member of the junior and senior high orchestras. Ethel graduated in the class of 1947 from Norristown Area School District. She continued her affiliation with her classmates sending reunion reminders, keeping track of their contact information and was one of the persons responsible for reunion table centerpieces.
She was a member of Bridgeport Presbyterian Church since 1985. From 1959 to 1983 she was a very active member of the former Plymouth Center Union Church where she and her husband were Sunday school teachers and superintendents. She began her faith journey at Port Kennedy Presbyterian Church where she was married Saturday, June 4, 1949, remaining there until 1959.
Ethel and Bill loved traveling through most of the fifty states hauling their Avion travel trailer. She held memberships in the Trooper Senior Citizen's Club, the Audubon Society, and the Nor-Con-Forgers and the Cee-Mont Mixers camping and hiking clubs. Ethel played the violin, piano and recorder; and she loved crafts, knitting, puzzles, Christian music/hymns and Country music.
Ethel was a Girl Scout Leader, PTA secretary, Ladies' Aid president and local chairman of the annual World Day of Prayer Services and semiannual programs at Christ's Home in Warminster.
Ethel is survived by her daughter Cynthia (David) Rheinheimer of East Stroudsburg; her son William Bradford (Judy) Phillips of Lafayette Hill; her grandchildren Joshua (Emily) Hayer, Justin (Tori) Hayer, Mallory Phillips, Jena Hayer, and Emma Phillips; three great-grandchildren; her son-in-law Gregory Hayer of Fort Lauderdale, FL; seven nieces and three nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Marcia (Phillips) Hayer in 2018; and her two sisters L. Dorothy McFarland in 2019 and Mary Ann (Pfanders) Koons in 2018.

Family and Friends are invited to Ethel's Life Celebration on Friday, September 3, from 10 to 11 AM at Boyd-Horrox-Givnish, 200 W. Germantown Pike in Norristown, with a service to follow at 11 AM. This service will be live streamed via the Boyd-Horrox-Givnish Facebook page Interment will take place at Valley Forge Memorial Gardens following the service.
