Alice Smith of Holland, formerly of Lansdale and Crestwood (NJ) passed away Saturday, August 27th at Twining Village where she resided the past 13 years. She was 95.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of Leonard and Carrie Pickering. Alice was preceded in death by her husband Frank B. Smith. She enjoyed traveling around the country and going on cruises with him. She spent many hours handcrafting, especially counted cross stitch and crewel projects.

Alice was proud to serve her country by joining the Navy WAVES during World War II. She achieved a rank of Storekeeper Second Class based in Norfolk, Virginia. Alice worked as a secretary for most of her career, retiring from Merck, Sharp & Dohme, West Point, as an executive secretary in 1977.

Alice will be sadly missed by her stepdaughter Elaine Moyer (Raymond) of Allentown and very dear friends William and Lois Abbott of Langhorne and their children Kimberly (Mike Generalao) of Lansdale and Bill (Courtney) of Conshohocken.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 1, at the Whitemarsh Memorial Park. Attendees should gather outside the Wayside Chapel at 10:40 a.m. to form a procession to the gravesite.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Alice's memory may be made to Biblical Theological Seminary, 200 North Main Street, Hatfield, PA 19440 or to the Popcorn Park Zoo, C/o Associated Humane Societies, P.O. Box 43, Forked River, NJ.
