Obituary

Altimus P. Seneca ("Bud") passed away on October 5, 2018, just one month shy of turning 96. Beloved husband of the late Rita M. (nee Amato). Loving Father to his children Laurel Seneca (Brenda LeClerc) and Barbara Seneca (Daniel Dempsey); devoted Grandfather to Patrick Dempsey (Rebecca); and loving Uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Bud was the youngest of eight children of Laura and Joseph Seneca. He married his childhood sweetheart and soulmate, Rita, at the tender age of 19. They rarely spent any time apart and they shared a full and wonderful life with family and friends whom they knew since childhood. Everything Philadelphia was special to Bud including the Phillies and Eagles, local politics, cannoli from Isgro , Tasty Cake Juniors, steak sandwiches from anywhere, and pound cake from Stocks. He and Rita traveled to Hawaii where they had many friends to visit; and they took a whirlwind tour of Italy with friends from elementary school. They enjoyed many trips to New York to see Broadway plays with their friends.

Bud had a full career in the Federal Government, working for many years at the Frankford Arsenal where he rose from machinist into the ranks of management. When he retired, he went on to a second career at Drexel University, managing the mechanical engineering lab. Bud could do anything he put his mind to. He had great intellectual curiosity and a methodical mathematical mind that sometimes drove his family crazy. He was a skilled craftsman in carpentry, plumbing, and painting and he could fix almost anything.

He was devoted to his family, loved his home and the Jersey shore where he summered.

Relatives and friends are invited to share in Bud's Life Celebration Saturday, October 13, 2018 beginning at 10:00AM followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00AM at St. James Church 8320 Brookside Rd, Elkins Park, PA 19027. Interment private.
