Angel Luis Ortiz, passes away on July 28th 2021 at the age of 86, surrounded by his family. Angel was the loving husband of Juana Ortiz (Zayas) for 63 wonderful years. Angel is the proud father of Carmen L. Ortiz, Evelyn Ortiz-Ulloa (the late Adoniram), the late Minerva Ortiz, the late Maria Theresa Ortiz-Torres (Humberto Torres Sr.), Zoraida Ortiz (Victor Fernandez), the late Lourdes Ortiz, the late Angel Luis Ortiz Jr. (Sue Tomaszewski-Ortiz), the late Miriam Irene Ortiz-Roman, and Alejandro Ortiz (Zoraida Soto-Ortiz). Angel was the loving brother to Luis, Ismael, the late Victor, the late Delia, Angel, Ricardo, Carmen, Gloria, Olga, Felix, and Nelly.

Angel leaves behind an impressive legacy in his many adoring grandchildren; Jessica, Clarissa, Divina, Humberto Jr., Casandra, Andrew, Alexis, Ashley, Briana, Antonio, Amanda, Matthew, Vincent, Ricardo, Victoria, Kaylee, Angelo, and Dominic, as well as Great grandchildren; Edwin, Alyena, Luis, Alisha, Brittany, Destiny, Jonathan, the late Alecea, Matthew Jr., Aalyah, Jacob, Ma Kenzie, Anthony, Naila, Harold (Mason), Layla, and Jeffery, and Great Great Grandchildren; Elias, Sofia, Hayden, the late Aiden, Jayleen, and Caleb.

Angel was born in Orocovis, Puerto Rico, and was raised in Barranquitas by his late mother Leonor Ortiz, his late adoptive parents Eloisa and Visitacion Melendaz, and the extended Ortiz family. He met his wife Juana when he was 7 as they lived in the same town. When Angel was 18, he and Juana moved to Swedesboro NJ to begin a new life for their family.

Angel was happiest when he was with the many extended generations of his family. He loved spending time with his children; grandchildren; great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Angel often enjoyed playing Dominoes with his family and friends, and playing jokes on them when he could; he was a prankster. He loved the beaches of Puerto Rico.

Angel will be remembered for always supporting his family through the many jobs he held; often working up to three jobs at a time. Angel was an ice cream man, truck driver, taxis driver, service station attendant, and a Luchador; he did whatever it took.

Relatives and friends are invited to Angel's Life Celebration visitation on Wednesday August 4th from 9-11AM at St. Helena Catholic Church (6161 N. 5th Street, Phila. 19120) with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11AM; interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
