Obituary for Ann Z. (nee Zadorozny) Horvath

May 12, 2017

Ann Z. (nee Zadorozny) Horvath, on May 12, 2017. Beloved wife of the late Michael F. Horvath, loving mother of Michael J. Horvath, Susan M. Keenan (James P.), Paula A. Finley (John G.), Peter M. Horvath and the late Nancy T. Horvath, dear sister of the late Mary Oczki, Betty Rudzinski, Edward Zadorozny, Olga Gidlewski, Stella Pomrink, Tillie Pronchik and Raymond Zadorozny, sister-in-law of Gussie Horvath, cherished grandmother of Valerie, Kathryn (Justin), Sean, Susie, Michael, Theresa, Kimberly, Laura, Amanda, and John Michael, and great grandmother of Christopher, Natalie and Olivia.

Ann married her sweetheart, Michael F. Horvath, on June 16, 1946 and celebrated 42 years of marriage before his death. She was a wife, mother, and homemaker who loved her family, worked hard to provide for them, and always let them know they were important. Her beautiful blue eyes would light up and twinkle with delight whenever she saw her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were truly the light of her life.

Ann was proud of her Ukrainian heritage, volunteered in a Ukrainian orphanage, and taught her children several words in the language. She enjoyed many activities, including birthday trips for special lunches, holiday parties, puzzles, cards, bingo, canasta, casino trips, and gatherings with her friends at senior centers (St. Jerome's Seniors, Liddenfield Seniors, and Juniata Park Seniors). Ann remained active up until 2017, proving her love of life, family, and friends was important to her.

As a young woman, she worked in a sewing shop, where she helped make the tablecloth for the USS Missouri where the peace treaty with Japan was signed. She also spent time in candle making and bindery work. Ann, who was no stranger to hard work or taking care of family, never complained about having to do it. She appreciated her ability to help out and we love her for it.

Family and friends are invited to Ann's Life Celebration Wed. after 7pm from John F. Givnish of Academy Road, 10975 Academy Rd., Phila. 19154 and Thurs. after 9am from St. Jerome Church, 8100 Colfax St., Phila. 19136 and to participate in her Funeral Mass 10am Thurs. Int. Resurrection Cem.
