Anna Jean Root of Collegeville died peacefully at the age of 95 on Tuesday, September 3, 2019. She was surrounded by family in her home of 70 years which she shared with her husband, Robert E. Root, until his death in 2014. Raised in Doylestown, she was the daughter of Ella Puff Jamison and William Cortland VanBuskirk. Surviving are her two daughters: Linda Burke of Philadelphia and Susan Linkenhoker (Roy) of Trappe, two grandchildren: Roy Linkenhoker, Jr. and Amy Conrad and two great grandchildren: Amanda and Jacob Conrad and many nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, her son Robert, Jr., sister Doris and brothers William and Harry.

Jean had been a Nanny and housekeeper for the owners of G. L. Sayre Trucking Company where she met her husband, Bob, who worked as a mechanic and salesman for the Sayre's. After their marriage in 1943 she joined Bob in Rehoboth Beach where he was stationed with the Civil Air Patrol. When he joined the Army Air Corp she followed him to Virginia, Georgia, Mississippi and Kansas before he was deployed to Guam.

A dedicated wife and mother, Jean was active in her community of Rahns as a member of Victory Club, a Brownie leader and a poll worker. She also worked in the Collegeville-Trappe High School Cafeteria. She was a member of Christ Church in Norristown where she and Bob were married.

Relatives and friends are invited to share in Jean's Life Celebration Service on Saturday, September 7, from 9:00 to 9:50 at Christ Church United Church of Christ, 1003 West Marshall St., Norristown, PA 19401. Her funeral service will be celebrated at 10:00 AM at the church. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery. Family services are by Boyd-Horrox of East Norriton. 610-277-7000
