Obituary for Anthony Angelo

November 12, 2018
Blue Bell, Pennsylvania

Anthony Angelo of Blue Bell passed away peacefully on November 12, 2018 at age 95. Born in Boston, MA, Anthony was the son of Leonarda (La Grassa) and Nicolo Angelo. Anthony shared 64 years of marriage with his beloved wife Angelina "Lee" Angelo who passed away in 2010.

Anthony was the loving father of Nora Schwartz (Alex) and Nicholas Angelo (Lynn). He was the cherished grandfather of Kimberly, Christopher, Melissa, Anthony, Aaron, Leigh Ann and great grandfather of 12. He was preceded in death by his sister, Brigida Angelo.

Tony, as he was called by his family grew up in Brooklyn, NY. He graduated high school early and went to night school at CCNY. This was the depression and his family could not afford to pay for college and needed his income as well. He began working for the Navy and worked for the government for the next 45 years. He actually was one of the first computer programmers in the country. He was a voracious reader, magazines, text books, novels; anything that was in print he was interested in.

After retiring, he enjoyed travelling with his wife throughout our country, Europe, Asia and never lost his desire for travel. He took a river cruise in Europe at the age of 92.

He loved puttering around in his garden at his Plymouth Township home of 50 years. When he moved to Normandy Farms, he grew orchids on his window sills. He enjoyed watching sports on TV but loved watching his grandchildren play sports in person. He loved good food, good wine and good conversation. He was always the gentlemen.

Relatives and friends are invited to Anthony's Life Celebration at St. Helena Church, 1489 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell, PA 19422 on Tuesday, November 27th from 10-10:45 am. His Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 am and interment is private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Jude's Children's Cancer Research Center, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
