Obituary for Anthony John Seppy, Sr.

July 21, 1927 - October 27, 2016
Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey | Age 89

Anthony John Seppy Sr., 89, of Egg Harbor Township, passed away peacefully at home on October 27, 2016. Anthony was born in Philadelphia, Pa on March 21, 1927 to Rocco & Carmella (Giordano) Seppy. He is joyfully reunited in Heaven with his dearly beloved wife of 69 years, Mary Seppy, who left us just 10 days earlier.

While growing up in South Philadelphia, Anthony loved running around the streets of his neighborhood with his childhood buddies but also developed a love of farming during his summers spent on their family farms in South Jersey. Anthony proudly served his country as a Navy Seabee during World War II. Shortly after returning home from the service, Anthony married Mary, the love of his life. Anthony and Mary then started their family and relocated to Brigantine, NJ where they owned and operated the islands first grocery store, Seppy's Market. After closing the store, Anthony enjoyed his years as a driver for Public Service Transportation and as a corrections officer for the Atlantic County Sheriffs Office. Not one to stay idle, Anthony never truly retired and instead spent his later years working part time at the original Golden Nugget and volunteering at the Brigantine Civic Center and the Community Food Bank. Pop loved working outside and took great pride in caring for his gorgeous lawn and beautiful gardens. His other hobbies included cooking, watching boxing, the Young at Heart Club trips and events enjoyed with Mary and playing pool at the Civic Center with his friends. Sunday was always the best day of the week as we enjoyed family dinner and the company of one another.

Anthony is survived by his beloved children, Carmella (Timothy) Ginnetti, Anthony (Lori) Seppy and Rocco Seppy. Also left to treasure his memory are his grandchildren, Tina (Tod) Hart, Timothy (Jennifer) Ginnetti Jr., Jaime (Justin) Hathorn and Anthony & Joseph Seppy. Anthony leaves a legacy of service to others and his great love of family to his great-grandchildren, Dylan & Andrew Hart, Luca Ginnetti and Keily Seppy. Anthony is predeceased by his brother Joseph and his sister Rose. Anthony was an adored uncle to his nieces and nephews.

During the final part of his journey, Anthony was cared for by many visiting angels including his dear buddy Jay, whom he looked forward to seeing every day, as well as Claire and Markell, who treated him with such tenderness and respect. We will be forever grateful to Anthony's caregiver, Keisha Howard, whose great compassion, kindness and love has been a gift to us all.

At the request of the family, services will be private.
