Carmella "Millie" Solari, 95, of Brigantine passed away on Thursday March 9, 2017. Millie was born in Philadelphia to Frank and Maria Raffa. She attended South Philadelphia High School. Millie was a professional lamp shade marker and she also was employed at Bally's Hotel and Casino. Millie and her husband Tony relocated to Brigantine in 1954 where they raised their 4 children.

Millie was a strong believer in Catholic education and volunteered for over 20 years serving student lunches at ST. Philip School in Brigantine. Even today she is affectionately called by her former students as "The Hot Dog Lady". Millie also worked as volunteer every Monday night at St Philip's Bingo from its inception until the end of program in 2005.

Millie was an active member and officer of the Brigantine Republican Club, the Sons of Italy and served two terms as Regent in the St Thomas Catholic Daughters in America.

A special thank you is extended to her family who cared for Millie 24 hours a day while ill at home. The family is very appreciative of mom's hospice nurse Wendy Phillips for her compassionate caring during mom's final months.

Millie was the beloved wife of the late Anthony "Tony' Solari. She was lovingly referred to by her children as "Big Mil". Millie is survived by her children Andrew Solari (Antoinette), Rosann Collamer (Gary), Robert Solari (Myriam) and Richard Solari (Tina). She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by 9 brothers and sisters.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Millie's Life Celebration and visitation on Monday March 13, 2017 from 12:30pm to 1:50pm at St Thomas Church, 8Th Street and Brigantine Ave Brigantine. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 2Pm. Interment will be private at the family's convenience.

Dismas Ministry of St Thomas Church in Brigantine which provides for the needy of Brigantine or the Brian Woods Scholarship Fund, C/O 4417 Harbor Beach Blvd. Brigantine NJ 08203. This fund provides scholarships to Brigantine students attending a Catholic High School.
