When we remember Carmín or Mamá as almost everyone called her we think of the strength she had. Carmen grew up in Puerto Rico in a small town. The oldest of four children Carmen played the role of mother from a very young age. She took care of her sisters and brothers. She came to the US with her family and began her adult life. Mama had many struggles in her life. She faced each one with a determination that was unprecedented. She lost her spouse, Luis A. Carlo, Sr. at a young age. Determined she made sure her family was safe and had everything they needed.

Carmen had a love for life and her passion was her family. She loved to travel and has gone to many places from the Caribbean, to Europe and everywhere in between. So many memories we shared together of the places we traveled and the things we did. So many memories of parties and celebrations where Carmen would lead the dance. Carmen was our families guiding light, and though she is no longer on this earth, her light is in our hearts and will continue to shine the way for us to follow the path she set for us all!
