Obituary

Colleen Beverly Getz, passed away Tuesday, February 6th, 2018, at the age of 90. Long time Levittown, PA resident and currently of Davenport, Iowa, Colleen was born in Shickshinny, PA, to the late Franklin and Crystal (nee Camp) Gensel. After graduating from high school in Shickshinny, PA, she married Horton B. Getz in 1945. She was a licensed beautician for over 50 years and worked as a secretary at ETS, Princeton, NJ, Calgon in Morrisville, PA, and also as a desk clerk at Fairless Hills Bowl and Levittown Bowl.

Through the years Colleen enjoyed many hobbies and interests. During the 50's and 60's, she participated in several archery and hunting tournaments. Colleen was also an avid golfer and bowler. She was an officer and secretary of numerous leagues, was a representative at WIBC State and National bowling conventions, and bowled weekly until 2013. In the 80's, she won the Pennsylvania State Women's Bowling Tournament and bowled as the PA State Representative in the WIBC National Queen Tournament. In her later years, Colleen remained very active. She was a member and volunteer of the Falls Township Seniors, the St. Francis Seniors, and many other senior groups in the Levittown area. In Davenport, IA, she was a member of Davenport seniors where she played Bingo, Bunco, took an art class, and exercised weekly with the "Silver Sneakers." Colleen was also fortunate enough to fulfill her dream of visiting all 50 states, visiting all but two with her husband, the late Horton Getz. She also toured Europe with her family and traveled to the Caribbean.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Horton Getz, and her sister Darlene Moser, Colleen is survived by herloving children Joe (Linda) Getz and Laurie (Jim) Stald, all of Davenport, IA, her cherished grandchildren James Stald of Davenport, IA, Ed (Terrie) Stald of Shiloh, MO, and Mike (Megan) Getz of Urbandale, IA, and her great grandchildren Baylie and Grant Stald of Shiloh, MO and Ty Stald of Davenport, IA. She is also survived by her brother Theodore Gensel of Pennington, NJ and a number of nieces and nephews who were very dear to her. She also made a friend of anyone she met.

Family and friends are invited to Colleen's Life Celebration on Saturday, February 17th, from 9:30 AM- 11:30 AM, followed by her Funeral Service at 11:30 AM, at the Beck Givnish Life Celebration Home, 7400 New Falls Rd., Levittown, PA 19055.
