Obituary for Dr. Daryl Russell Fair

August 25, 1938 - January 10, 2017
Yardley, Pennsylvania | Age 78

Obituary

Unwilling to stomach the advent of a Donald Trump presidency, Dr. Daryl Russell Fair, 78, quit this world on Jan. 10, 2017 following a valiant nearly three-year
battle with pancreatic cancer. Dr. Fair was born August 25, 1938 in York, Pa., to Russell and Velma Fair (nee Fishel), and grew up on the family's farm in Glen Rock, Pa. He received a bachelor's degree from Millersville University, then known as Millersville State Teachers College, before attending the University of Pennsylvania where he earned a master's degree in 1962 and a doctorate in 1965. He went on to serve as a professor of political science and constitutional law at Trenton State College, now known as the College of New Jersey, beginning in 1970 until his retirement in 2014. He founded and fostered the college's moot court team, and served as Pre-Law advisor where he helped guide innumerable young minds in joining the ranks of Americas most beloved professionals:
lawyers.

He was a longtime resident of Yardley, Pa., and a member of Newtown Friends Meeting. He was a lover of jazz music, and the strange rhythms of Thelonious Monk in particular. In a world increasingly in need of these traits, he was an uncommonly kind, decent, and peaceful man. He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Barbara Kibler; two sons, Michael and Matthew; a daughter, Caitlin; his daughters-in- law Tamara and Mary; his grandson Oliver; his four cats, Yogi, Mooshi, Chooch and Mimi; and a network of extended family, friends, students and colleagues whose lives were made infinitely richer for having known him.

We hope he left this world knowing in what high esteem he was held.
