Bennis,
David A. Jr., 86, of Somers Point, passed away on Friday October 19, 2012. A long time resident of Somers Point and Margate, NJ, he was born in Germantown, Philadelphia, PA and resided in Chestnut Hill and Ambler, PA before moving to Margate in 1957. He was a graduate of LaSalle High School. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army Air Force for two years. He was President of Edward F. Bennis & Sons, Inc. and D&B Carriers, Inc. of Germantown before moving to New Jersey where he became a founding member of Mr. Best Car Wash Systems. Mr. Bennis finished his working career with Cape Island Yacht Sales of Cape May, NJ, retiring in 1992 as Sales Manager.
He was an avid boater and a life time member of the US Power Squadrons and a local member of Absecon Island Power Squadron.. Mr. Bennis was a commercial pilot and a 30 year plus member of AOPA, and for some time, a member of Air Mates Flying Club.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former Jane Randolph, of Ventnor, NJ and is survived by his daughter Jane Bennis Jordal and her husband Eric Jordal, a grandson, Matthew and granddaughter Emma of Galloway Township. David is also survived by his brother Robert J. Bennis of Media, PA. and many wonderful cousins, nieces and nephews. A brother Edward and a sisters, Marie C. Pyne and Kathleen Lahiff Faunce predeceased him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend David's Life Celebration and visitation on Tuesday Evening from 7 to 9pm at the Jeffries and Keates Funeral Home, Tilton Road and Infield Ave Northfield and Wednesday from10 to 11am at St Joseph's Church, 606 Shore Road Somers Point. Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11am. Interment Laurel Memorial Park, Pomona. To share your fondest memory of David please visit www.lifecelebration.com.
