Obituary for Doris Muschert Miller

August 25, 2017

Doris Muschert Miller went home to be with her Lord peacefully, and surrounded by family, on Friday, August 25, 2017. She was 85 and a lifelong resident of Newtown. Doris was the daughter of Russell Muschert and Alma Longshore Johnson Davis and the beloved wife of the late Theodore E. Miller. She was a proud housewife and mother to her four children, Barbara, Ted, Nancy, and Tim.

Doris was a member of Grace Point Church (formerly known as The First Baptist Church of Newtown) for over 65 years serving in many capacities. At the church, Doris was a member of the Women's Fellowship, a leader in the Pioneer Girls Club and was a volunteer on a missions trip to the Bahamas where she was nicknamed "Bahama Mama." Doris graduated from Council Rock High School in 1950 and enjoyed her monthly breakfast meetings with the group.

An adventurous woman, Doris loved to travel. Her trips took her to places as far away as China, Egypt, Australia, Thailand, and Africa, and she enjoyed touring the United States with her husband, friends, and family. Doris made these trips memorable by taking a hot air balloon ride, riding a mule down into the Grand Canyon, an airplane glider ride in Colorado, and riding an elephant in Thailand. Closer to home, she loved Grammy's annual family reunions at the beach with her children and grandchildren in Ocean City, NJ.

Doris is survived by her step-brother, Charly Johnson, her children, Barbara Miller, Ted Miller (Ruth), Nancy Davis (Beverly Walton), Tim Miller (Jessica) and her six grandchildren, Kelly Davis Tachie-Menson (Yooku), Amanda Davis, James Cody Davis, Nellie Miller, Hatch Miller, and Ailbe Miller.

Doris's family will receive friends Wednesday 8/30/17 from 10 am – 11 am at Grace Point Church, 592 Washington Crossing Road, Newtown followed by a Service of Remembrance at 11:00 am. Interment will be at the Newtown Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Doris's name to Grace Point Church, 592 Washington Crossing Road, Newtown, PA 18940.
