Obituary

Dorothy May Johnson (Lockett), 82, went home to the Lord on September 3, 2017, in North Cape May, surrounded by family. Dot was born in the Frankford section of Philadelphia, then raised her family in the Mayfair section and Langhorne.

Prior to her retirement in the mid 1990's, Dot worked as a teaching assistant for Philadelphia School District. Once retired, Dot and Gene enjoyed the snowbird lifestyle spending time between their home in Sun City West, Arizona, returning to Cape May in the summer months. Dot was well known and loved as the "craft lady", spending many weekends at craft shows in AZ, PA and NJ, including many years on the music pier Ocean City's boardwalk music pier. While in Arizona she volunteered at the Liberty Thrift Store of the West Valley Bible Church, in Surprise AZ, which she called her church home during the winter months. While in Cape May her church family was Revolve Church in North Cape May. Dorothy was always involved in youth ministry while a member at Langhorne Presbyterian Church, she was affectionately known as "Miss Dot", leading Bible School assemblies, small pre-teen groups, Sunday school and quietly, or not so quietly, praising Jesus, always.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Johnson, to whom she was married for 58 years. She is survived by her son Barry and wife Arlene (Caraccio) Johnson, her daughter Kathy Rohrer and husband Edward Rohrer. Dorothy had six grandchildren who she loved and cherished spending time with them, even mastering texting, and social media to keep up with them:  Kate Rohrer (Ryan McLoughlin), Matthew Johnson, Melissa Johnson (Aaron Saliba), Andrew Rohrer, Morgan Johnson, and Kevin Johnson. Her three "greats" as she called them, where her world. Oliver Rohe McLoughlin, Sophia Louise Rohrer and Olivia Grace Saliba. Spending time with them was a great joy for her, and when she could not be with them, then Facetiming was the way to go.  She will be missed by her dear sister, Marjorie Neuber, brother in laws, Howard Neuber, Charles Johnson, Robert Johnson, Paul Hedges and sister in-laws, Delores Hedges (Johnson), Florence Johnson and Ethel Johnson, along with many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy's life celebration will be held on Friday, October 6th, at Langhorne Presbyterian Church, Bellevue & Gillam Avenues, where the family will be available for greeting at 4:30pm and a service of celebration will be held at 5:30pm.  Interment will be held privately at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
