Obituary for Edith Belle (Stevens) Vesci

February 22, 1952 - May 7, 2018
| Age 66

Edith Belle (Stevens) Vesci, age 66, passed away on Monday, May 7, 2018. She was born on February 22, 1952 in Schenectady, New York to William D. and Jane Adele (Mauersberger) Stevens. She was a 1970 graduate of Colonie Central High School. After graduation, the striking looks and height of Edie and her twin sister led to a period of modeling work. Edie's wit and way with words, a skill set derived from the Mauersberger family's love of trivia and puzzle competitions, was deftly utilized during the years she worked in advertising. The highlights of her marriage to Frederick V. Vesci, Jr. were the births of her two beautiful children, Jayne Vesci Mooney and Frederick V. Vesci III. Edie had an eclectic sense of style and absolutely loved searching for antique treasures. She had a keen eye for photography and enjoyed a well composed frame…particularly if the image celebrated the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren while dressed in stylish outfits. As a resident of the Samuel Tabas House in Philadelphia, Edie found a wonderfully active and warm community of friends and neighbors. After being voted into the position by her peers, she served as Vice President of the Resident's Association.

Edie was preceded in death by her beloved brother Paul. She is survived by her children, five grandchildren (Anthony, Brendan, & Thomas Mooney; Charlie and Adele Vesci), son-in-law Anthony Mooney, daughter-in-law Renee Vesci, twin sister Beth Gibson, sister Lissa Terpening, brother Pete Stevens, maternal aunt Alice Woodcock, and many cherished cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Edie touched are invited to the Sons of Norway Fredriksten Hall (187 State Rd, Bensalem, PA 19020) from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Monday 5/21/18 to reminisce, grieve, and support each other. In keeping with Edie's style and spirit, this will be a potluck/life celebration. A SignUpGenius page will be circulated for anyone who has expressed their desire to help during this time. Edie always enjoyed catching up while tasting everyone's best dishes - especially the desserts!

In lieu of flowers, her children would appreciate iris plants or bulbs, if so moved. Both will be creating personal memorial gardens in Edie's honor that will feature her favorite flower. For address information, please send an email to
