Obituary

On the evening of August 6, 2021, Edna Mae (nee Huddell) Waterson, daughter of Walter and M. Elizabeth Huddell, peacefully passed away at the Vitas Respite Unit at Nazareth Hospital, after an 8-year battle with Alzheimer's. She was 92. The family celebrates the life of this amazing woman: life-long Christian, certified teacher, accomplished pianist, secretary, MacGyver-mom, friend, and advocate, who has now traveled from earth to Glory to be welcomed by her Creator with joy for her never-failing devotion to the Lord—and to be reunited with family and friends who have gone before. Sparkling blue-eyed Edna (beautiful inside and out) was a devoted and wise wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, as well as a surrogate mom to anyone in need of love or friendship. She was wise, funny, appreciative, and never complained; during respite hospital visits and at home, she would daily sing hymns, and sang "You Are My Sunshine" until two weeks before she passed. She leaves behind her husband of almost 69 years, Rev. William R. Waterson III, sons William IV and Stephen, and daughter Jill (O'Brien), as well as seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The family deeply appreciates the love and assistance shown by her numerous caregivers over the years. Edna will be deeply missed, but there is great comfort in the knowledge that she is free from the cares and sickness of this world. We praise God for her life! The family hopes to have a Celebration of Life soon. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Edna's memory to St. Mark AME Zion Church, 136 N. Congress Street, Newtown, PA 18940, where she and Bill have been members for many years. Cards can also be sent in care of the church. John 14:1-3
