Obituary

Elaine Bunny Verderese of Levittown, Pennsylvania passed away on April 5, 2021 in Torrance, California at the age of 96. The beloved family matriarch was preceded in death (1982) by her husband Pat Verderese and is survived by her children Bernadette Capellaro and husband John of Tulum, Mexico, son Daniel and wife Lee Ann of New York City: 5 grandchildren, Daniel, Lucian, Olivia, Lucas and Cai Rose along with two great grandchildren Luca and Mila.

Bunny was born in Philadelphia in 1925 and was an accomplished equestrian and fencer in her youth. She attended Douglas College in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and shortly thereafter met and married her husband, Pat Verderese, settling in Amsterdam, NY upon Pat's return from service in WWII and locating in Levittown, Pa in 1954. Bunny worked for over 20 years at Educational Testing Service in Princeton, New Jersey, and enjoyed helping students and coworkers alike, and with her magnetic personality, she was happiest when helping others.

Upon her retirement, Bunny loved traveling to visit family, and also loved to take trips with her friends. She had a tremendous adventurous spirit, and traveled the world including a trip to Hong Kong at the age of 92 to visit her family and stayed for 4 months. She loved every minute of that trip and could be heard asking "What's next?" and "Let's do it!" Her adventures included trips to Switzerland, Italy, Hawaii, Mexico and more.

Bunny was an avid reader, wrote poetry, and had built a massive home library of books that she would review and loan to friends and family. She possessed a quick wit and loved a good laugh. She had a beautiful ability to build unique and adoring relationships with each of her grandchildren, creating special moments for her and her family. She created and has passed down many very special family traditions, which instilled strong and loving relationships.

Bunny always acted upon her belief of "family first" in all that she did. She was surrounded by her family at the time of passing. She is sorely missed but her values and her example of love continue to be with her family.

Relatives and friends are invited to Bunny's graveside service at Newtown Cemetery, 600 Washington Ave, Newtown, PA on Friday, May 14 at 11:00 AM.
