Obituary

Eleanor D. Maffei, 90, of New Hope, PA died peacefully on June 11, 2018 at her home with family by her side. Born in Sharon, PA,
she was a graduate of Farrell High School and Sharon General School of Nursing in Western PA. She was a Registered Nurse who honorably served as a Polio Warrior in Buffalo, NY during the polio epidemic. She worked for many years in hospitals and later, when her children were grown she returned to care giving as a private duty nurse.

She was a resident of Bucks County for many years, after living in New Jersey, New York, and Germany. Eleanor lived her life as a devout Catholic. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. She was happiest being a homemaker and raising her 8 children.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother Andrew and Mary (Koshar) Denis, her brother, Andrew, and sisters, MaryAnne, BettyJane , and Dolores. She was the wife of the late Michael J. Maffei, to whom she was married for 54 years. She is survived by her 8 children, Mark (Betty) Maffei, Marilyn Mullen, Robert (Mona) Maffei, Susan Maffei, Douglas Maffei, Clifford (Beth) Maffei, Carol (Scott) Little and Lisa Clayton, her 16 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren, her sister Dorothy Viselli and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to pay respects and visit with her family on Monday, June 18 from 5 to 7 PM followed by the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 PM at Swartz Givnish Funeral Home, 323 Washington Ave, Newtown, PA and to her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 11 AM at the Olde Church of St. Andrew, 135 S. Sycamore St., Newtown, PA. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery.
