Obituary

Eleanor J. Carlton, 87, of Audubon, died on October 13, 2018 at Einstein Hospital in Norristown.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Lester Carlton.

Eleanor was born May 31, 1931 in Philadelphia to the late Edward M. and Florence M. (Tharan) Currie. She attended Parochial School of Chestnut Hill and graduated from Little Flower High School. She attended a course from the University of Pennsylvania given at Graduate Hospital for Medical Lab Technicians, doing so well in the 2 year course, that they asked her to stay on as part of their permanent staff. She continued her life in hematology until the birth of their first child in June 1958, to which she then became a full time mother and housewife.

In the years to follow, she became very active in Welcome Wagon – a newcomers club, doing survey work, and assisting with family restaurant businesses. She later became involved in politics, becoming a Montgomery County Republican Committee Woman and President of The Montgomery County Council of Republican Women. Eleanor has always enjoyed ceramics, gardening, bowling, and playing bridge. She is survived by her sister Dorothy Gillies, Cape May, NJ. She is also survived by three children: Michael Carlton of Gilbertsville; Timothy Carlton of Golden Valley, AZ, and Lisa Carlton-Kimata (Thomas) of Audubon; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Eleanor's Life Celebration will be held on Friday October 19th, at Visitation BVM Church, 196 N Trooper Rd. in Eagleville, from 10:00 to 10:50 am, with her Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 am. Interment will be at George Washington Memorial Park in Plymouth Meeting.
