Obituary for Elsie Adams Stackhouse

May 21, 2017
Atlantic City, New Jersey

Elsie Adams Stackhouse, age 90, passed away on Sunday May 21st at Atlantic City Medical Center. Elsie was the daughter of the late Raymond and Margaret (Crosscup) Adams, former wife of the late Robert Stackhouse, mother of Dr. Lisa Stackhouse, Thomas R. Stackhouse, and the late Stephen Stackhouse, mother-in-law of Linda, grandmother of Tommy and Jimmy, and great grandmother of Connor Stackhouse.

Elsie was born in Philadelphia and graduated from Germantown High School and the Moore College of Art. She taught fourth grade in the Willingboro schools for 26 years and loved working with her students. She also loved her family and friends, enjoyed hosting meals and kept in touch by sending out more than 100 Christmas cards each year. She loved her grand dog golden retriever Skye who sat by her side and made certain that her plate was clean after every meal. Elsie loved nature, especially flowers and the ocean. She was a talented watercolor artist and these were her favorite subjects. She enjoyed her last days sitting on her deck looking out at the bay, bathing in the sun, smelling basil and gardenia, seeing the azaleas and roses blossoming and enjoying her favorite meal, Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings. She was blessed and so were we for having her in our lives.

Elsie wished for burial at sea. There will be a private Life Celebration for family and friends at a later date.

Please feel free to make a contribution to someone or something close to your heart. She has no need of flowers now as she is dancing in the light, flowers in her hair, with a gull overheard soaring in the sea breeze.
