Obituary

Eva H. Soutos of Phoenixville passed away peacefully on April 13, 2018 at the age of 88. Born in Bronx, New York on December 21, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Basila and Praxitelis Hatjygeorge. She graduated from Monroe High School and received an Associates Degree from Fordham University.

After graduating Fordham University she spend 10+ years at the Bank of New York. By an arranged marriage by the late Rosa Charitou of the Greek Council of New York City, she married Thomas A. Soutos in 1956. Eva continued her career at the Bank of New York until Thomas graduated from Columbia Pharmacy School in 1960. Thomas and Eva continued their journey by moving from New York to King of Prussia. From the early 60's through the mid-70's Eva worked with her loving husband at Soutos Pharmacy in Norristown, PA. She later went on to become an executive secretary at General Electric until her retirement.

Eva (also known as "YiaYia") lived a full and adventurous life with husband and sons, Alex and Basil. She faithfully served the local Greek Community at St. Sophia and St. Luke's Greek Orthodox Churches for over four decades. She traveled the world with her husband to Greece, Spain, Portugal and Russia. She supported her children, Alex and Basil in all sporting, social, career and life endeavors. She loved to read, cook, and spend time with her grandchildren, Jaime and the late Alexi Soutos. Eva was a dedicated mother and loving wife for 62 years. Eva's legacy will be known for graciousness, elegance, charisma, and her love for her family, friends and the Greek Orthodox Church.

Eva is survived by her loving husband, Thomas, sons Basil and Alexander (Jennifer) and granddaughter, Jaime. She was predeceased by her brother, Emanuel (Stella) Hatygeorge and granddaughter, Alexi Soutos. She is also survived by Captain Nick and Maria Soutos, Alex and Rania Soutos and their son Nicholas and nephews, Peter, George and Stas Hatygeorge.

Calling hours will be held from 10 – 10:50 AM, with her funeral service at 11 AM on Tuesday April 17 at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church, 900 S Trooper Rd in Norristown. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, 200 S Montgomery Ave in Norristown.
