Obituary

George E. Mansfield, of Philadelphia passed away on January 23rd, 2022 at the age of 83. He was the devoted husband of Pat (nee Keogh), married for 61 years; loving and caring father of Timothy Mansfield (Sandi), Michael Mansfield (Ro), and Michele Pellizzeri (Russell); loving grandfather of Gregory (Giovanna), Scott, Gina, Brian, Alex, Jackson and Vanessa; and beloved brother of Robert, Christopher, and the late Francis, Anne, Louis, Thomas, Dorothy, and Edward. George will also be missed by his beloved godchildren and his many nieces, nephews and close friends.

George was born in Philadelphia and spent his formative years growing up in the St. Joseph's Home for Boys in North Philadelphia where he formed many life-long friendships. He was a graduate from North Catholic High School in Philadelphia. After graduation he joined the US Army where he proudly served for three years in the Signal Corp. George had a long career as an accountant and executive in finance, manufacturing and insurance. While working George went to school at night at LaSalle College, now University, to earn his degree.

George was dedicated to his family and friends and was a life-long patriot. He loved the City of Philadelphia, his country and his Irish heritage. George always had a story to tell you. He loved a good party, with a Pabst Blue Ribbon in his hand, and nothing made him happier than spending time with his family especially his grandchildren who were his pride and joy. He loved crossed words puzzles, and when asked how he was doing he'd always respond, "Never had a bad day."
Family and friends are invited to George's Life Celebration on Thursday, February 10th at St. Anselm's Church, 12670 Dunks Ferry Rd., Philadelphia, PA 19154, from 9 – 10 AM. A funeral mass will follow at 10AM. Interment services will be held at Washingtons Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA at 11:30AM. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in George's name to Tunnel to Towers Foundation or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
