Obituary for Geraldine "Gerry" Emmaline (nee Hallman) DePietro

June 11, 2019
Norristown, Pennsylvania

Geraldine Emmaline DePietro (nee Hallman) "Gerry" of Norristown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday June 11, 2019. She was 75 years old. Born November 27, 1943 in Norristown, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna May (nee McNamara) Hallman and the beloved wife of the late Victor J. DePietro.

Gerry was a light in so many lives and there will never be another like her. She was the kindest, sweetest, most selfless mother there ever was and nothing came before her family. Her love for her children was unmatched and God help you if you ever tried to hurt them. She had a sparkling intellect and a memory like no other. She was strong-willed and spunky. She was funny, smart and forgiving. She was adventurous and brought fun to the party and she knew how to make people laugh. She loved reading, the casino, bingo and a good old game of Texas Hold 'Em. She also loved making her all-important phone calls! Gerry loved the shore and the mountains and the time she spent at both places with those she loved. She was a member of the McNamara Cousins Club and a bonus Becker Family member. A Frank Sinatra song will never play without her family thinking of how much she loved him. She was lucky enough to get a kiss from him many years ago at a concert and she always said she could still remember the smell of his cologne. Gerry was an advocate for the underdog with a tenacity for righting the wrongs of this world. She was a defender and fighter for the people and wasn't afraid to voice her opinion. When she believed in something, she believed in it with all of her heart. Her feistiness and courage to speak her mind are her legacy. She was always there for her family and friends and would do anything for them. There will never be another like Gerry and the world will be a different place without her. Her family will be appreciating every memory and moment spent with her and take solace in the fact that she is finally back in the arms of her one true love.

Gerry is survived by her two children; Valerie Becker (John) and Michael DePietro, three grandchildren; Sean, Sam and Luke, and her two sisters; Frances Burns and Janet Hallman-Bruno (the late Dominic). She is also survived by her angel on Earth, Patricia Fraschetta (nee Wacker), her niece Kathi Burns Britton with whom she had a special mother/daughter bond, several cousins, nieces, nephews and her friends at Jefferson Apartments.
