Obituary

Gloria Rodgers was born in her Hometown in Glenside; Montgomery County PA. , and she was born to Leon and Susie Rogers.

She attended North Hills Elementary School, Glenside; Weldon Junior High School, and Abington High School. She further continued her education of data entry.

She married Lawrence Jones in 1962. Through this union, she had five children, Angelina, Lawrence Jr., Milton, Lisa, and her youngest daughter Jennifer. She also had three grandchildren, Michael, Christina, and Danielle.

Gloria played the piano and gave lessons to young children, also she loved playing Moonlight Serenade by Glenn Miller and many other classic and modern songs. At Saint Mark's Lutheran Church, she was a Sunday school teacher and vacation Bible school director. She was a great cook, especially baking cakes. She was famously known for making her Gingerbread cake. She loved her Hometown Glenside and talked about it quite often. She also talked about the Bible and gave personal moral lessons.

She worked for the School District of Philadelphia at Lowell School where her children attended. Later on, she went to Philadelphia Training Center and was Certified in Data Entry. Her working career was in banking. Her last job was at GMAC where she received many awards as a Star Performer. She continued doing what she loved such as gardening and creating beautiful crochet blankets and other crochet projects. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Relatives and Friends are invited to Gloria's Life Celebration; Saturday, July 17 from 10 am to 12 noon at the Geitner Givnish Funeral Home 6239 N. 5th Street. Philadelphia, PA 19120. Followed by her Funeral Service at 12 noon. Her interment will be in Northwood Cemetery, Philadelphia, PA.
