Obituary for HERBERT Paul LEE III

October 1, 2015
Pineville, Pennsylvania

Herbert Paul Lee III died October 1, 2015 at home in Pineville, Bucks County, PA. He was born in Philadelphia in June, 1945, and was predeceased by his parents, Herbert Paul Lee II, and Marian (Daiber) Lee.

Paul was a United States Marine, and served in Vietnam from 1965 to 1967. He participated in multiple offensives in the DaNang and DMZ areas, was wounded and was the recipient of a Purple Heart and several other combat-related medals. Those who knew Paul well knew that he was a living example of the phrase "Freedom is Not Free." But he was proud of his service and willing to pay what it cost him over the course of his lifetime. His brother Michael is entrusted with his war narrative.

When Paul returned from Vietnam, he joined the staff at St. Gabriel's Hall in Audubon, Pa., retiring in August, 2000. He held a variety of administrative positions at the school over the 33 years he worked there, enjoying his colleagues, the Christian Brothers, and his work with the young men who came through the school. He was fond of saying that he really only had one job all that time: "to do right by the kids". His desire to help and protect extended beyond the school, to the preservation of wildlife and the environment. He was a master falconer, and had a large circle of falconer friends with whom he worked successfully to enact protective legislation for endangered species of raptors.

Paul is survived by Jeanne Trivellini, his wife of 20 years; by his stepdaughter, Jessica Toney, and by Jessica's daughter Daria. Paul was the oldest of the nine children of the Lee family, and is survived by his brothers Michael and Stacy, by sisters Nancy, Peggy and Loretta, sister-in-law Mary, and by their children, his nieces and nephews, and by their children. He was predeceased by his siblings Brian, Tim and Eileen. His first wife, the former Linda Wolski, with whom he lived in Pine Forge, Berks County, predeceased him in 1989.

The Leaver-Cable Funeral Home in Buckingham is handling arrangements. Interment will be private. A celebration of Paul's life is scheduled for Friday, October 23, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the farm in Pineville, and will include a tribute by the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard. For information call 484-955-2816.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a Vietnam veteran's association. - See more at:
