Harry Oliver, 88, of Atlantic City passed away quietly at home on Friday June 14, 2013.
Born in Asheville, North Carolina in 1925, he moved to Atlantic City
as a baby and spent 56 years on Hygeia Place. He attended Atlantic City High School. He was briefly employed at the Post Office and The Title Company of New Jersey. He wasn't content until he was employed by Atlantic County working in the Department of Finance where he spent 35 dedicated years until his retirement in 1988. Harry was a staunch Republican active in the party receiving awards for political leadership and never missed an election. He spent his last 30 years living at the Chelsea Village Apartments and was a member of the Chelsea Neighborhood Association. Old stories of Hap Farley, Nucky Johnson and going out drinking with his friends would always bring a smile to his face. He had a special place in his heart for the Officers of The Atlantic City Police Department. For several years he had 3 police scanners throughout his apartment keeping him informed of the activity in the city.
He is predeceased by his parents Harry and Mary Frances Oliver, and the aunts who raised him; Grace and Laura Caminade. He is survived and will be missed by his good friends and caretakers, Frank Calabrese, Ralph Lamusta, and Autumn Mason. As well as a team
of great caretakers; Dan Spincola, Robin Price, Sue Warner, Amy Genre and Terrie Ginnetti. Along with the entire group from Holy Redeemer and Dr. Christopher Bolich.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Harry's Life Celebration and Viewing on Thursday June 20th from 9 to 10AM at Jeffries and Keates Funeral Home, Tilton Road and Infield Ave Northfield. Funeral Service will follow at 10am. Interment Atlantic City - Greenwood Cemetery, Pleasantville. To share you fondest memory of Harry please visit www.lifecelebration.com.
