Obituary

Helen (Griffenberg) Gill passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Abington Memorial Hospital in Abington, Pennsylvania. She was 91 years old. Born in Camden to John and Helen (Muir) Griffenberg on September 9, 1927, she is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Reginald (Burt) Gill; her children John (Mary) Gill, Bruce Gill, Allison Gill, and John Hunter; her ten grandchildren, Amy Zorn (Michael), Elizabeth Fee (Edward), Elaine Gill (Thomas John Allingham), John Hunter (Holly), Kathryn Gill (Michael Bounds), Melissa Gill, Robert O'Neil, Charles Gill, Caitlin Nugent (John), and Emily Gill; twelve great-grandchildren; her brother-in-law Francis (Harry) Kreutzberg and her niece and nephews, Kirk Kreutzberg (Loretta), Kyle Kreutzberg (Karen) Kim Hyrnko (Mike) and Kipp Kreutzberg (Yvette). She is predeceased by her daughter, Barbara Hunter; granddaughter, Anne Hunter; and sister Joan (Griffenberg) Kreutzberg.

Helen was a resident of Palmyra, New Jersey, for most of her life. She was a member of the Palmyra High School (PHS) Class of '45 and considered her classmates to be "like extra brothers and sisters" to her. She remained good friends with many of them, was an ardent PHS football fan and was involved in Palmyra community affairs for much of her life. For several decades she was a part time resident of Lily Bay, Maine; and recently has resided at Leisuretown in Vincentown, N.J. and Ann's Choice in Warminster, Pa.

Helen loved her family very much, and enjoyed getting everyone together for holiday dinners and other celebratory occasions at her home. Her playfulness, stories, songs, kindness and laughter brought great joy to her children and grandchildren. She loved spending time with her husband, Burt, and friends at their Moosehead Lake camp in Maine. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed cooking, baking and visiting new places. She was interested in people and was always making new friends, especially during the time she and Burt traveled around the country in their RV. She had a witty sense of humor and had the ability to find the funny side of most things.

She was a good Christian - an active member of both Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church in Palmyra and Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Tabernacle, New Jersey. She loved her "church family" friends, and was a compassionate person who always stood ready to help anyone in need.

Helen Gill loved life and lived every minute of hers to the fullest. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. A memorial service will be held on October 2, 2018 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 1 Winchester Ct., Tabernacle, N.J. 08088. Visitation will commence at 10:00 AM with the memorial service commencing at 11:30 AM.

Family and friends are invited to participate in a celebration of Helen's life after the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Lord of Life Memorial Fund located at the church.

Family services are entrusted under the care of Craft-Givnish of Abington, Inc. 215-659-2000.
