Obituary for Howard A. "Mac" McCutcheon

January 20, 2020

Howard A. "Mac" McCutcheon, aged 94, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2020 surrounded by his ever-loving wife and friends. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Mary (Walton) McCutcheon. Son of the late Murrell and Ada (Pyle) McCutcheon, brother of the late Raymond McCutcheon. Mac served in the US Navy in WWII (1943-1946) aboard the USS Bataan. He joined the Philadelphia Police Department in 1950 and was assigned to the newly formed Highway Patrol, eventually being promoted to the rank of Detective and retiring in 1971. He would go on to become the Head of Security at the Park Town Condominiums in Center City Philadelphia, in 1973.
He retired for good in 1985 and spent his days metal detecting, digging up treasure and having his yard sales. Throughout the years Mac and Mary enjoyed spending time riding "their Indian" motorcycle, spending weekends at their house in Barnegate but most enjoyed raising and showing their beloved dogs, winning many ribbons and trophies. He will be sadly missed by those of us who loved him. Family and friends are invited to Mac's Military Honors Ceremony Tuesday, January 28, 2020 beginning 11 A.M. at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Mac's memory to your local animal charity would be appreciated by the family. to share your fondest memories of Mac, please visit
