Obituary

Jacquelyn A. "Jackie" Cochrane, 66, of Brigantine passed away suddenly on October 31, 2018. Jackie was born in Sea Isle City, NJ to the late Joseph and Jessie Wilkins. Jackie was an athlete at a time when women were not supposed to be athletes playing both field hockey and basketball at Holy Spirit High School. She fell in love with rowing during her adult years when she joined the Brigantine Rowing Club where she rowed with dear friends and family and was coached by her brother Joe. She passed this love on to her children and was thrilled to attend her granddaughter's crew races this year at Lake Lenape. Jackie was a true islander, born and raised in the city of Brigantine and never wanted to be anywhere else in the world.

Jackie was a long time member of Local 54 where she worked at the Sands and Harrah's casinos. Jackie also worked many years at Firewaters and A Dam Good Deli at the Tropicana where she developed many deep and lasting friendships. Most recently, Jackie took a part time job that she loved at the 9th Street Wawa where she could see family and friends every day when they stopped in for their morning coffee. Her recent years were spent attending her granddaughter's sporting events, theater productions, and dance recitals as well as caring for her dear friend and neighbor Irv.

Jackie is survived by her son, William "Bill" Cochrane (Sarah), her daughter, Kathleen Fox (Bernard J.), and her most treasured loves, her granddaughters Madelyn, Megan, Lauren, and Vivian. She is also survived by her siblings Joseph Wilkins (Maryanne), Joanie O'Donnell (Jim), Guy Wilkins (Lee), and Eddie Wilkins as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sisters Jeannette Wilkins and Janie Cunerd and her brother Jimmy Wilkins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jackie's Life Celebration Gathering on Tuesday November 6, 2018 from 10 to 11:30AM at St Thomas Church, 8th Street and Brigantine Ave. Brigantine. Memorial Mass will follow at 11:30AM. Interment will be private.

The family kindly requests donations in lieu of flowers to the Brigantine Rowing Club, 524 Bayshore Ave Brigantine NJ 08203.
