Obituary

James M. Torrente Sr., age 65, of Clyde North Carolina, formerly of Jacksonville, Fl and Fox Chase passed away on January 18, 2021. Beloved husband of Marybeth (nee McGrother), loving father of James (Kristina), Joseph ( Leslie) and Michael (Ashley), brother of Loretta Kratzer (late David), Jacqueline Crocetta (Anthony) Carole Torrente and the late Josephine Garvin. Dear Poppy of Tyler, Kaia, Mia, Gabriel and Marabella Torrente and Kaily Nisbet. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Jim is a 1974 graduate of Cardinal Dougherty HS. He met Marybeth in freshman year and have been together for almost 50 years! Together they raised 3 sons! Jim was a very dedicated father, sometimes working extra jobs to keep them in the best soccer spikes and sports equipment! He never missed a game or practice, sometimes driving them from one end of the city to the other with very little sleep. It was a time in his life that he truly treasured! He was a proud dad, and an even prouder Pop to his grandchildren. Jim was an electrician by trade and worked for SEPTA, first as a line maintainer then advanced to the Engineering department. This experience led him to his 25 year career as a Signal Engineer. He was last employed by Alstom Transportation. Never one to back down from a difficult situation , whether it be personal or professional, he dealt with it with honesty and grit! He was a husband, father, brother, uncle, friend and Poppy! The best that ever lived and he will be missed deeply!
