Joanne M. Schaffer, of Hulmeville, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2020. She was 78 years old. Joanne was the beloved wife to Barry L. Schaffer with whom she is survived by. She was born in Wilmington, Delaware to the late Joseph and Catherine (née Valori) Senese on October 9, 1941.

Joanne attended Bristol High school. She graduated valedictorian of her class and married her high school sweetheart Barry. They were very young parents to Denise and Barry. Joanne had an early career at Rohm Haas where she was an office administrator for 12 years.

Joanne was a devoted mother and grandmother. She had her daughter Jenni at age 30 and became a full stay at home mother. She became a grandmother in her early forties and was able to be hands on with her three oldest grandsons: Matthew, Mark and John. Joanne had a strong personality, was very energetic, had lots of wit, a sharp tongue, and an incredible sense of humor. Joanne enjoyed her home and family, gardening, cooking and especially baking.
She was especially handy with all sorts of hidden talents such as ceramics, crafts, sewing and crocheting. She was a passionate avid reader. She loved movies and really enjoyed playing games. She became a very high tech woman in her 70's enjoying online games and social media. Joanne was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was also a member of Queen of the Universe Catholic Church where she served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion.

In addition to her husband Barry, Joanne is survived by her two daughters, Denise M. Roberts (the late Al) and Jennifer L. Rosenblum and is predeceased by her son, Barry M. Schaffer. She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren: Matthew Roberts (Anna-Michelle), Mark Roberts (Amanda), John Roberts (Brianna), Laura Burkholder (John), Barry Schaffer, Joshua Rosenblum, Hannah Rosenblum, Jacob Rosenblum, Noah Rosenblum, Simon Rosenblum, Elijah Rosenblum. Joanne is survived also by her great grandchildren: Luke Roberts, Grace Roberts, Aurora Burkholder, and will be cherished in memory and family stories by two expecting great grandchildren. Joanne is also predeceased by her sister, Rosemarie Bowden.

Relatives and friends are invited to Joanne's Life Celebration on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Queen of the Universe Catholic Church 2443 Trenton Rd. Levittown, PA 19056 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. followed by her funeral mass at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Family services are entrusted under the care of Dunn-Givnish, 215-757-3331.
