Obituary

John Quarles, a longtime resident of Penns Park, PA entered into eternal rest peacefully at home on Thursday February 3, 2022 at the age of 93. Born on October 18, 1928 he grew up in Newtown and was educated at the former Newtown High School now known as Council Rock School District.

John was employed by Gorski Disposal for a number of years. He was also skilled Mason and worked for Bush Brothers. He taught his sons the craft and retired after 26 years when his work took a toll on his body. He loved bird watching, would feed them and build beautiful bird houses. He was also a hunter.

John met his soul mate Ethel Hopkins Quarles when they caught each other's eye while attending service at Mount Gilead AME Church in Holicong, PA. On June 3, 1950, they were married and remained together for 68 years until God called Ethel home on June 24, 2018. From the union they are blessed with eight children which included two sets of Fraternal twins. John loved his family and will be remembered for his kindness and willingness to help others.

John will surely have a heavenly reunion with Ethel; his sons Bobby Hopkins, Don Quarles, Bruce Quarles and other loved ones who have journeyed before him.

John leaves to cherish his memory his children; John Quarles, Jr. (Theresa), Chris Quarles, Christine Quarles, Donna Quarles and Charles Quarles; daughter-in-law Beverly Quarles, widow of Bruce Quarles who passed away on January 21, 2022; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and friends.

Our thanks to all family and friends that have been there for support during this difficult time.

Funeral Services will be held on March 5, 2022 at the Swartz Givnish Funeral Home, 323 E.
